How to choose the best blinds for your conservatory or sunroom

As the weather has improved and the evenings have got longer, people in Scotland are spending more time in their conservatories, sunrooms and garden rooms. These rooms are all fantastic additions to a home but often homeowners find that they are too cold in the winter and can become too hot in the summer.

The best way to make more use of a conservatory is to install made-to-measure blinds for the windows and doors. The blinds will help keep a conservatory warm and cosy in the colder months and they will keep the room cooler on sunny days. Blinds can be adjusted to let daylight in but prevent sun glare.  They are also fantastic for providing more privacy, especially in the evening when you put the lights on.

Which types of blinds are ideal for a conservatory?

If you have a conservatory with uPVC windows and doors, then we highly recommend Perfect Fit blinds.  They have designed their blinds to clip onto the frames of uPVC windows and doors without the need for any drilling or screwing. Customers can choose from Perfect Fit roller blinds, Venetian blinds or pleated blinds in a colour that suits their decor.  Another benefit of these blinds is that you can have the doors and windows open and the blinds won't get broken flapping about in the wind as they sit neatly within the frame.

There are, of course, other options.

Ideally, you should make an appointment with your local made-to-measure window blind company. One of their surveyors can visit your home and explain which types of blinds can be fitted onto your conservatory windows. If you have a period home with timber-framed windows in your conservatory you may prefer luxurious Roman blinds. Or you may prefer the look and functionality of vertical blinds.
